Paginated series (blog archives, category pages, forum threads) are where crawl budget goes to die. The old rel=next/prev pattern is gone; the new pattern is opinionated but simple.
- Each paginated page is self-canonical.
- Never canonical page 2+ to page 1 — you'll deindex them.
- Use robots meta only if a page has zero unique value.
- 'View all' still helps for shortish lists.
