TL;DR

Schema is the highest-ROI, lowest-competition SEO surface left in 2026 — most sites still ship only Article and Organization. The 10 must-have types below unlock stars, prices, breadcrumbs, sitelinks searchbox, Knowledge Panel eligibility, and consistent AI-answer citations. WBP Omni SEO Pro ships all 40 types server-rendered, per-URL overridable, and validated against Google's Rich Results Test.

  • • Sitewide: Organization, WebSite + SearchAction, BreadcrumbList.
  • • Per post: Article/BlogPosting, FAQPage, Speakable.
  • • Commerce: Product + Offer + AggregateRating, SoftwareApplication.
  • • Local: LocalBusiness + Place on every city page.
  • • Media: VideoObject, ImageObject with license.
  • • AI-first: QAPage, HowTo, DefinedTerm, Dataset.

Implementation playbook

Four-week rollout, ordered by ROI. Applies whether you use WBP Omni SEO Pro or hand-roll JSON-LD.

  1. Week 1

    Foundation

Ship Organization, WebSite + SearchAction, BreadcrumbList sitewide. Validate every route in Google's Rich Results Test. Expected: sitelinks searchbox + breadcrumb URLs within 2–3 weeks.

  2. Week 2

    Content types

Article/BlogPosting on every post, FAQPage where genuine Q&A exists, SpeakableSpecification on H1 + TL;DR. Expected: FAQ SERP modules + voice answer eligibility.

  3. Week 3

    Commerce & trust

Product + Offer + AggregateRating on every product, SoftwareApplication on plugin/SaaS pages, Review on testimonials. Expected: star ratings, price chips, +20–35% CTR.

  4. Week 4

    AI-answer surface

QAPage on /answers/*, HowTo on tutorials, DefinedTerm on glossary, Dataset on research exports, VideoObject on every embed. Expected: multi-fold citation rate in ChatGPT/Perplexity.

Six mistakes that cause manual actions

Schema that isn't on the page

If you mark up FAQs, prices, or reviews that visitors can't see, Google treats it as spam. Rule: schema mirrors visible content, always.

Fake or self-serving reviews

AggregateRating without real reviews on-page is the #1 rich-result penalty. Show the reviews you mark up.

Multiple conflicting types on one node

Don't put Article + Product + Recipe on the same @id. Pick the primary type; use secondary types as separate JSON-LD blocks.

Missing required properties

BlogPosting without author, Product without offers.priceCurrency — Google silently drops the rich result. Validate every template.

JavaScript-injected schema

Schema added after page load is often missed by AI crawlers and Perplexity. Server-render every JSON-LD block.

Copy-pasted schema across pages

Duplicate @id and identical Article nodes on every URL confuse the graph. Every schema must be unique per URL.

FAQ

Which schema types matter most in 2026?+

Organization, WebSite, BreadcrumbList, Article/BlogPosting, FAQPage, Product+Offer, Review/AggregateRating, LocalBusiness, VideoObject, and SpeakableSpecification cover 80% of the SERP-feature upside for most sites.

Do schemas actually help AI search (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini)?+

Yes. Answer engines parse JSON-LD to identify entities, authorship, prices, and dates. FAQPage, QAPage, HowTo, Speakable, and Article schemas materially increase citation rate in generative answers.

Is more schema always better?+

No. Schema must reflect what is visibly on the page. Emitting Recipe on a non-recipe page, or fake reviews, will earn a manual action. Ship schemas that match real content only.

How does WBP Omni SEO Pro implement all of this?+

The plugin ships 40+ schema types server-rendered in the page head, auto-detects context (post type, page role, taxonomy), and lets you override any field per URL. No JavaScript injection — every schema is crawlable on first byte.

What is the fastest schema win for a new site?+

Ship Organization + WebSite + BreadcrumbList sitewide, then add Article + FAQPage per post. That alone unlocks Knowledge Panel eligibility, sitelinks searchbox, breadcrumb URLs, and FAQ SERP real estate.

Ship all 40 schemas without touching code.

WBP Omni SEO Pro auto-generates every schema in this report, per-URL overridable, server-rendered, and validated. Migrate from Yoast / Rank Math / AIOSEO in one click.
